Reactor Vessel Pressure Control and Data Logging

Bronkhorst has developed a specialised combination of electronic pressure and thermal mass flow controllers for automated pressure control of reactor vessels. This standard solution can be applied for low flow lab reactor systems as well as for high flow industrial applications as for instance in hydrogenation processes in the food and pharma industry or at chemical plants, at either low or (very) high pressure (up to 700 bar). To optimize a chemical reaction, chemists must find the best combination of compounds and introduce these in precise proportions into the reaction chamber.

Low Energy, Low Temperature Liquid Source Evaporation

Mass Flow Control Improves Electron Collider

The Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) is a 768 meter former electron-positron collider which is hidden beneath the school’s Alumni Field and a parking area.  Throughout the 1990’s the CESR was the world’s highest luminosity electron-positron collider. The CESR now acts as an x-ray storage location for CHESS (Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source).  During its long and distinguished history the CESR has provided radiation materials which have allowed hundreds of scientists and scientists-in-training to collect data for their research.

Cost Savings by Dosing at Low Flow Rates

A customer within the field of specialty chemicals was unaware that low to ultra-low flow control was possible and so was taking a vital raw ingredient, mixing it with water to create a carrier volume, and then metering and dosing it into the main product flow. This process added cost to the production method and, as the dilution step added variability to the concentration of the additive, the product quality was often compromised with a resulting additional cost of re-work to the rejected product.

Mass Flow Control Enables Cost Saving Vapor

In the research and testing of automobile catalysts the chemical dodecane, a liquid alkane hydrocarbon, is used in the simulation of diesel engine exhaust. Customers within this research field were unaware that the amount of dodecane could be precisely and accurately controlled and that it could be injected in the vaporous state that they preferred.

Zeroing a Coriolis Instrument

Proper installation and start up of a Coriolis instrument includes zeroing the meter before usage. Zeroing the meter, with the unit full of fluid and a no flow condition, allows the meter to "know" the zero point.
